Hello students and parents and welcome!
About your teacher...
My name is Neima Tanara, and I am pleased to be working with you all this year. I received my bachelors degree from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) in the area of Psychology with a minor in Human Services. During my time at CSUF I conducted research in Cognitive Psychology with an emphasis in Learning and Memory. I have been fortunate enough to be able to share my research at the Western Psychological Association Convention in 2016 and I am looking forward to utilizing what I have learned to better help students learn and retain all the wonderful topics math has to offer. |
About this topic...
Through participating in this unit our collective goal is to learn and understand the following elements: 1. Represent data with plots on the real number line (dot plots, histograms, and box plots). 2. Use statistics appropriate to the shape of the data distribution to compare center (median, mean) and spread (interquartile range, standard deviation) of two or more different data sets. 3. Interpret differences in shape, center, and spread in the context of the data sets, accounting for possible effects of extreme data points (outliers). Students from grade 9-12 will encounter this subject matter in algebra and statistics classes. |
